About

2015-11-20 15.35.50-1Hello, if you are joining me for the first time or just happened to forget who I am and what this blog is about, read on:

My name is Ariel and I’m a twenty-something college graduate with a passion to create and explore. I have a wide range of hobbies and I decided to share my loves and life with the world.

Of course a girl with so many hobbies has to stay organized so I’ll occasionally share how I go about doing that with my bullet journal/ planner.

First up in my hobbies: I sew, quilt, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider, cut and paste, decorate, write, and whatever else I can tackle when the inspiration hits. I typically craft while listening to music – either broadway, Disney, or 80s love songs – and can do it for hours at a time (sometimes days if I didn’t have to go adult somewhere). I’m working on releasing a series of paper-pieced patterns and crochet patterns so if you’re a reader of this blog, you’ll be the first to know and maybe even get a chance to test them out (read: free) before they get released to anyone else.

No to crafting? How about tv, movies, and books? Okay, mainly books but I watch my fair share of moving pictures so those reviews often pop up along side books. I’m open to trying any genre of book but I especially love… all? Yes, including graphic novels and scifi and fantasy and young adult and poetry and history. I have my favorites, of course, but that’s a very long list. Shortened down a bit? Well, Holes was my favorite book in 4th grade, I have a small collection of books and movies all about the Holocaust and WW2, I read Chronicles of Narnia at least once every other year, Flowers for Algernon sparked my love of Psychology, A Song of Ice and Fire brought me closer to my fiance… the list goes on. I enjoy sharing my favorite reads and giving shout outs to lesser known books so of course I have this space to share all that with my readers.

If crafting and reading isn’t your thing (are you just not feeling well today?), that’s okay because I’m also a giant geek in a bunch of areas. If you couldn’t tell my the blog name, Star Trek is my passion. Which series is my favorite? Like I tell everyone, the short answer is my heart will always lie with the original series because of the impact it had both on my life and on scifi and society. However, I also really love the story of Voyager and Janeway is my kind of gal. Other geeky loves: Firefly/ Serenity, Battlestar Galactica (the original), Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, video games, and another list that could go on for a while. This hobby can often leak into the others so it’ll probably pop up more often than not so if you’re anti-fun, this probably isn’t the place for you (sorry, not sorry?).

Speaking of love, I can’t forget the most important thing in my life – my fiance. Yeah, I’m engaged to top it all off (after reading that list of things, you may be surprised). Who is this man that would join my side of crafting, reading, geeky adventure? Only my high school sweetheart who has stuck with my through all my shortcomings, quirks, and moments of insanity. Before anything else we’re best friends and love to just hang out, make jokes, occasionally fart (not me, because I’m a lady… it was definitely the dog), play video games, laugh hard, and love every second of it. We’re one of those weird couples that’ll probably last forever and it’ll make you upset because there has to be something wrong with our relationship because it can’t possibly be that good. Yeah, well, you best believe it is. And just to make you super jealous, this blog is also the place I’ll be sharing our little quest to sealing the deal, D-I-Ying our way through dragons (aka way too expensive things), and battling our greatest foe (family drama – jk! Love you guys!)

I hope you enjoy yourself exploring this blog. It’s just in its beginning stages so stay with me and you won’t be disappointed.
